Politique A La Con!

I am finally realizing how worried I am about what's happening in Lebanon. I feel guilty for being in the U.S. while Effo, Fadi, Hala, Walid, my other relatives, and my friends are going through a war that is not there's to begin with. How long will it be till my country turns back into the dark ages of no power, limited fuel, limited water, isolation, despair, poverty, and life in shelters. Haven't the Lebanese endured enough?

I guess not.

George Bush is planning to introduce Democracy to the Lebanese by vetoing every cease fire decision at the United Nation to allow Ehud Olmert's government to Neo-Con-style bomb democracy to us. Someone needs to inform George that Lebanon is a Democracy and has been so for a very long while, thank you very much. Funny how only now I am getting to realize how inconsistent and quite frankly simple the president of this country is.

Someone needs to tell Condi that killing innocent children is not a good opportunity for peace. You may not like the fat ugly hijab covered Shiite women you see running for their lives on TV but the fact remains they are human beings and deserve to live. Oh and CNN and FOX news, you need to keep pace with progress. If you're unwilling to paint an objective picture of the conflict, better remember that there are other means to cover conflicts in the world. This includes emails, blogs, conversation with Lebanese nationals abroad. Yes indeed, we are not all terrorists, and we definitely have a face and an opinion, well instructed one I may add, eventhough you choose to never talk to us.

Fouad Saniora, the prime minister of tiny Lebanon said and I quote: "We the Lebanese deserve to live, we want to live, Lebanon shall not die". He asked Ms. Rice on her 'surprise' (you gotta love the Bush Administration's Hollywood style foreign policy) trip to Beirut if we were children of a Lesser God? To this I say we may be children of a lesser God to those that worship the God of lnjustice, lies, and murder, but we are certainly valuable and equal children of God to those that believe in humanity, fairness, and goodness. And they have proven to be many the friends of Lebanon. And if Israel or the Bush Administation think they are winning the support of the international community, they better wake up and smell the roses. They messed up with the wrong people this time. They seem to forget that for every Lebanese in the homeland, there are four abroad representing the true values of the land of Phoenicians. I promise you one thing Mr. Saniora, this Lebanese shall live, this Lebanese won't let Lebanon die. My parents contributed to rebuilding Lebanon before and never gave up on the land that gave birth to them, I shall commemorate their contribution by following their steps.

For the past 30 years I claimed to be a citizen of the world thanks to a progressive, open, and well traveled upbringing. Well this upbringing took place in the Land of Cedars, and I owe it all to Lebanon.

It took me 30 years to realize that not only am I Lebanese but I am also damm proud of it. Better late then never!

Since the begining of the hostilities in Lebanon between Hezbollah (AKA HA) and Israel, this Child of a lesser God has been having a real hard time to write about the war that is taking place in his home country.

Am I really the only one that doesn't get how bombing people to death is the 'democratic' mean to build a new Middle East? Call me crazy but I'm having a hard time finding those new 'opportunities' Condoleeza Rice keeps referring too under all those dead bodies.

Oh well what do I know, I am a Child of a lesser God. Yay me!
